Today’s quirky tidbit of wedding inspiration is truly a joy to share – a totally eclectic and fun theatrical engagement session from Don Mears Photography and Fete Studio. Morgan and Chris are one couple who dance to their own tune (more of this below), and their engagement shoot really showcases their wonderful quirkiness.
It’s basically like they dragged their whole life outdoors for their shoot… and the results are a fabulous visual retelling of the pair’s backstory.
When they realised that the big wedding they were planning for this summer was causing the marriage element to be overshadowed by guest lists and colour schemes, what did they do? They hopped on a plane to the Virgin Islands, eloped and are now planning a massive throw down for friends and family next summer.
This meant that their engagement shoot was really their big opportunity to net some fabulously and suitably offbeat photographs instead of, as they say a “kissy face, long romantic looks kind of shoot.”
Fete Studio got on board to style the shoot – set in an outdoors set completely made of props taken strictly from their lives. Highlights included their cake topper, her bouquet floating in the air, a dinner booth that has followed Morgan around since high school, the atlas from the BVI, various wedding gifts, books collected by Morgan’s dad over the years from around the world and the letter “D,” which was a long standing private joke with Chris and his best friend, that passed away a few years ago.
This is one of Chris and Morgan’s favourite pics from the shoot – as it’s basically the opposite of their mantra at home.
